25 Years of SMT Swiss Mains GmbH
SMT Swiss Mains was founded in January 2000 as a limited company with the aim of solving challenging problems in various technical fields. Our core areas are measurement and control technology, high-frequency electronics, optical communication, software development and high-voltage technology. We also see ourselves as interdisciplinary developers with an open technical horizon. Complex problems are our passion.
We put the latest findings from science and technology into practice. Unsolvable problems are the raw material of our success: we find solutions where others capitulate. From consulting, planning and development to the production of customised devices and systems, we cover the entire product cycle.
Set the highest standards! We measure ourselves against internationally recognised top standards in order to meet and even exceed our customers’ expectations at all levels. SMT Swiss Mains has been certified to the ISO 9001 quality management standard since October 2006.
Our History
SMT Swiss Mains was founded in January 2000 as a limited company with the aim of solving challenging problems in various technical fields.
The first multiplexer was delivered to ABB Switzerland in November 2008.
The first LPBs were sold to ABB Switzerland in April 2009.
Delivery of the first CDG to ABB Switzerland.
Various schools have been working with the latest version of the school management software since 2013.

Founding members
Michael Spühler
Dr. sc. techn. ETH, CEO
He has many years of experience in software development and digital electronics for process control and data analysis. He holds a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and was awarded his doctorate for his in-depth work in the field of integrated optics for high-speed networks.
Martin Schmatz
Dr. sc. techn. ETH
He has a very broad education in electronics, especially in high-frequency electronics. He holds a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and was awarded his doctorate for his work in the field of precision noise measurements in high-frequency electronic systems.
Stefan Neuhold
dipl. El. Ing. ETH, M.S.E.E
He specialises in high-voltage test and measurement systems. He also has many years of experience in system design and in translating block diagrams into easy-to-use, solid and attractive hardware. He studied at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
The network
We are convinced that knowledge and skills acquired in an interdisciplinary environment provide the best answers to challenging questions. That is why we are building a network of consultants who have proven their expertise in both the academic and industrial worlds. This makes Swiss Mains a one-stop shop for solving problems for which there are no standard answers.
The future
We also give young talent the opportunity to learn from our minds and develop new areas of knowledge and practical skills. We want to enable young people to orientate themselves in a complex and rapidly changing world and promote a deeper understanding of their working environment so that they are highly qualified professionals after their training.
